Drainage problems are often difficult to understand from the surface alone. Slow flow, recurring blockages, unexplained damp, unpleasant smells, localised ground movement or repeated repair work can all justify a closer look at the accessible drainage system.

IPD uses CCTV drainage inspection to create a visual record of accessible pipework and to identify visible conditions that may require maintenance, repair or further specialist investigation.

The service is inspection-led. IPD does not need to sell excavation, relining or drain repairs in order to make the visit worthwhile.

What we look for

• Obstructions and deposits visible within accessible pipework.

• Cracks, fractures and other visible pipe damage.

• Displaced or open joints.

• Root ingress.

• Standing water, poor falls or evidence of restricted flow where visible.

• Debris and foreign objects.

• Signs of local deterioration or deformation.

• Accessible connections and changes in direction where these can be inspected.

• Conditions that may justify cleaning, repair, further tracing or specialist drainage work.

What you receive

• CCTV inspection of the agreed accessible drainage runs.

• Recorded video footage where available from the inspection equipment and conditions.

• Key still images of significant observations where useful.

• Clear written summary of the visible condition found.

• Identification of areas that appear serviceable, restricted or in need of further attention where the evidence permits.

• Practical recommended next steps.

• Digital evidence/report for your records.

Useful when

• A drain repeatedly blocks or runs slowly.

Inspection, not repair sales

A CCTV image can show the condition inside a pipe, but the correct next step depends on what is actually visible and on the limits of access. IPD will distinguish between an observed defect, a likely concern and something that cannot be established from the footage available.

Important scope information

The service depends on safe and suitable access to the drainage system. Some runs may be inaccessible, blocked, submerged, too restricted or otherwise unsuitable for complete inspection.

CCTV inspection does not automatically include drain jetting, blockage clearance, excavation, drain tracing, pressure testing, sonar, structural engineering or repair work.

Hidden sections and defects outside the camera's accessible route may remain undetected.
